BOIL WATER NOTICE STILL IN EFFECT IN CHAPPELL HILL

Customers of the Chappell Hill Water Supply Corp. remain under a boil water notice.

The notice was issued Friday by PGMS, citing an “equipment failure”.

Carroll Campbell, office manager at PGMS, the company that manages the CHWSC, says chlorination equipment in the system failed Friday, which led to the notice.

Customers are being advised to boil water drawn from the system for at least two minutes to kill any harmful bacteria that might be present, to purchase bottled water or get water from another source until the notice is lifted.

Campbell said it is uncertain when that will happen.

Chappell Hill officials are hopeful the water system will be back up and running in time for this weekend’s Scarecrow Festival.
