BRAZOS CO. MOSQUITOES TEST POSITIVE FOR WEST NILE VIRUS

  

Mosquitoes in nearby Brazos County have tested positive for West Nile Virus.

The Brazos County Health Department says the mosquitoes were collected at the Texas A&M Golf Course last week.

This is the first positive West Nile Virus case in Brazos County in 2014.

The Health Department is warning people to protect themselves against all mosquitoes.

Area residents are being urged to take proper precautions:

• Drain standing water around the house, including tires, cans, flowerpots, rain gutters, buckets, wading pools, puddles, etc...  Also trim grass and shrubs and do not over water lawns and gardens.

• Wear insect repellent containing DEET.

• Stay indoors at dusk and dawn when mosquitoes are most active.

• And, dress in long sleeves and pants when outdoors to prevent bites.
