BRENHAM AIRPORT RUNWAY TO BE CLOSED BEGINNING NEXT WEDNESDAY

  

The runway at the Brenham Airport is planned to be closed for four days beginning next Wednesday.  The closure will allow crews to install the partially closed stripping and lights for the hump/bump repair on the north end of the runway.  The shortened runway (4380 ft. vs. 6003 ft.) will then be reopened during the project and then closed again when it is finished to allow crews to safely remove the markings and lights.  The hump/bump repair was scheduled to take place during the winter months, but delays at TxDot put the project off until now.  The hump/bump repair project is expected to take 60 days, concluding August 21st.  The hump/bump on the north end of the runway is a safety hazard and has been repaired in the past, only to return.
