The Brenham Board of Adjustment will consider a special exception request from Brenham ISD for a new access entrance and parking area for the district’s FFA Agriculture Farm.

The school district is currently the owner of property at 227 Shepard Lane, roughly 5.3 acres of land located on the southeast corner of the Shepard Lane and Old Chappell Hill Road intersection. The property is primarily undeveloped, save for the agricultural facility.  The existing building has a dirt access via Shepard Lane.

Brenham ISD Career and Technical Education Director Cody Stelter is requesting to allow a gravel surface for the construction of a new access entrance via Old Chappell Hill Road, and a new 60 foot by 100 foot off-street parking area. Stelter said, while the facility has not had much use in many years, a growing number of non-traditional agricultural students, as well as FFA members that do not have the means to house an FFA project, has called for the revitalization of the facility and site.

In order to save costs and minimize disruption of the current landscape, while also providing additional access and parking, Brenham ISD is requesting they be allowed to use a gravel surface instead of the required all-weather surface for driveways and parking areas. City staff have reviewed the request and recommend approval.

Also in session, board members will consider the election of a chair and vice-chair for the board for 2020.

The board will meet Monday afternoon at 5:15 p.m., at Brenham City Hall.

  1. Hmmm? This is a pasture. How often will the pasture parking area have to be re-striped? After it is shredded or after the cows eat the grass?
