BRENHAM BUILDING PERMITS CONTINUE BRISK PACE

Building permits issued by the city of Brenham increased by nearly 700-thouand dollars in the month of October.

During the month, the city issued 40 permits valued at 2.4-million dollars—an increase over September’s 32 permits for 1.7-million dollars.

It is also a dramatic increase over October permits issued in 2013, when 24 permits were issued for a total value of just over 550-thousand dollars.

For the year, the city has issued over $21.1-million dollars in permits—compared to $29.6-million in permits issued by this same time last year.  However, last year’s permits included the extensive renovations at the Brenham Middle School and construction of the Alton Elementary School, valued at $26-million.

The single-largest permit issued this past month was for liquid nitrogen storage tanks at 3201 South Blue Bell Road to PPE LLC.  The permit is valued at just over $640,000.

Eight new residence permits were issued for a total of just over $1.3-million.
