BRENHAM CITY COUNCIL APPOINTS WARD-2 SUCCESSOR, ACCEPTS RESIGNATION OF CHARLIE PYLE
The Brenham City Council has announced the newest Ward-2 Councilmember.
Albert Wright will fill the seat previously held by the late Weldon Williams, who died in June. Wright is the Senior Pastor at the New Life Church of God in Brenham.
City Manager James Fisher said Wright has been a longtime member of the Brenham community, and that current councilmembers have a good relationship with him. City Secretary Jeana Bellinger said six people applied for the position.
Wright’s appointment will fill the Ward-2 seat until next May’s election. Wright will be sworn in at the September 6th council meeting.
The council was also informed at today's (Thursday) meeting that Councilman Charlie Pyle has resigned from his position effective immediately, due to health issues and ongoing treatments. Pyle has been absent from meetings since suffering a major heart attack in March.
Councilmembers will call a special election for the at-large position at the meeting on September 6th.
Congratulations, Pastor Wright, a great choice for our community.
