BRENHAM CITY COUNCIL TO CONTINUE BUDGET DISCUSSION WEDNESDAY, THURSDAY

The Brenham City Council will look to continue planning efforts for the 2019-20 Fiscal Year with a pair of upcoming meetings.

The council will hold a special meeting Wednesday afternoon at 3 p.m. in the Emergency Operations Center at the Brenham Fire Department.  It will meet again Thursday morning at 9 a.m. at City Hall.

In these meetings, councilmembers will discuss economic conditions, capital projects, and budget priorities for the new fiscal year, which begins October 1st.

The city’s 2018-19 budget totaled roughly $69.9 million, which included several projects dedicated to repairs from flood damage in 2016 and Hurricane Harvey in 2017.  The city used cash reserves and sought federal reimbursement to pay for those costs.

The current makeup of the council has three members who are new to the city’s budgeting process: Albert Wright, Clint Kolby, and Adonna Saunders.
