BRENHAM DRIVER TAKES CHAMPIONSHIP AT BAYTOWN RACEWAY
The 2017 Royal Purple Raceway - Bayshore Chrysler Jeep Dodge RAM E.T. Bracket Racing Series crowned its Champions over the weekend.

Arabella Maitland of Brenham was the winner of the Advanced Jr. race on Saturday. Arabella had a 0.007 second reaction time and ran an elapsed time of 8.058 seconds on a 8.02 second dial in at 79.30 MPH. Bethany McLemore of Pasadena, Tx had a 0.078 second reaction time and ran an elapsed time of 7.867 seconds on a 7.90 second dial in at 83.19 MPH.
Maitland and McLemore would meet up again in the final round of the Advanced Jr. race on Sunday. Arabella Maitland took the win. Maitland had a 0.031 second reaction time and ran an elapsed time of 8.063 seconds on a 8.03 second dial in at 80.28 MPH. Bethany McLemore had a 0.050 second reaction time and ran an elapsed time of 7.932 seconds on a 7.90 dial at 79.02 MPH.
This weekend was the last points race of the 2017 race season. Arabella Maitland started the weekend in 7th place, in point standings. She gained points in the Saturday race that placed her in 2nd place at the beginning of Sunday. She had to win 5 of the 6 rounds of racing on Sunday to take over the #1 spot. Against all odds she won all 6 rounds and was named the 2017 Royal Purple Raceway Advanced Jr. Dragster Champion.
Arabella Maitland is a Freshman at Brenham High School. She is also a member of the Brenham High School Belles Dance Team. She is the daughter of Jeff and Marla Maitland of Brenham and Granddaughter of George Rhodes of Brenham and Gary and Janet Maitland of Flagler Beach, FL. Bethany McLemore is enrolled as a Freshman at St. Jacinto Jr. College. She is the daughter of Stacy and Kellie McLemore of Pasadena, Tx. She is the Granddaugher of Sarah McLemore and the late William McLemore of Baytown, Tx.
