BRENHAM FELON CHARGED WITH POSSESSION OF A FIREARM
A Brenham man is behind bars, charged with illegal possession of a firearm.
Brenham Police officer Heather Sowders responded to the 700 block of Matilda St. in reference to a subject sitting outside of a house with a gun.
The caller said a man, identified at 39-year old Elijah Holmes of Brenham, had been displaying a rifle all day.
Sowders and several other officers arrived at the scene and detained Holmes.
Cpl. Joseph Merkley informed the officers that Holmes had been known to carry an AK47. A rifle magazine was found in Holmes’ shirt pocket.
Merkley then found a weapon inside Holmes’ vehicle. The weapon was identified as a simulated AR-15 .22 caliber rifle.
Holmes is currently on parole. He is charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, a class 3 felony
