The Brenham Fire Department is beginning its third year of the “Brenham Bucket Brigade Fire Prevention Program.”

As part of Fire Prevention Month, the Brenham Fire Department is visiting area elementary schools to teach fire prevention and safety.

Brenham Fire Marshal Brent Sauble says the goal of the program is to help kids build a foundation of safe practices, by entertaining them and teaching life safety skills.

Each year, children Pre-K to 4th grade see new shows that have different safety messages.  Several fire officers perform as clowns and puppeteers for the shows, while others build the sets and run sound effects and music.

This year, the department is putting on a series of Wild West Shows. Bad Bob has been going around the neighborhood, stealing batteries from smoke detectors.  It’s up to officers to put a stop to his dastardly deeds.

Tomorrow (Wednesday), the show will visit Grace Lutheran School at 9 a.m., and Krause Elementary at 2 p.m.

They will also host performances on October 16th, at 9 a.m. at Alton Elementary, and 1:30 p.m. and 2:15 p.m. at Brenham Elementary.  They will conclude on October 29th, with an 8:30 a.m. show at First Baptist School, and 1:30 p.m. at St. Paul’s Christian Day School.

Sauble says reception for the program has been great, and the department enjoys doing something exciting and memorable for the kids, to teach them valuable lessons.
