BRENHAM HERITAGE MUEUM TO PRESENT TEXAS “HISTORY THROUGH THE BARREL OF A GUN”

  

Phil Coe,and Veterans of the Second Texas Regiment will receive a 21 gun and cannon salute to honor their military service in the Civil War on Saturday, April 25th beginning at the Prairie Lea Cemetery

General Jerry Nelson and the men from Sons of Confederate Veterans General Jerome B. Robertson, Camp 992, will be hosting this spectacular event. Following the cemetery ceremony all are invited to join the Brenham Heritage Museum as they induct local and Texas wide legends into their hall of fame, and unveil their Lawmen, Lawbreakers, and Soldiers: Texas History through the Barrel of a Gun exhibit.

The event will begin at10:30am Prairie Lea Cemetery, 1004 Prairie Lea Street. and at 11:30 am at the Brenham Heritage Museum, 105 South Market Street. There is no cost for either event.

Hall of Fame Inductions include: Philip Coe, George Armstrong Custer, Col. John S. Ford, Matthew Gaines, George Giddings, John Wesley Hardin, Gideon Lincecum, Bill Longley, Joseph P. Lynch, James W. McDade, Leander McNelly, George Milton, and Ben Thompson.

The Exhibit will include Lawmen, Lawbreakers, and Soldiers: Texas History Through The Barrel Of A Gun, will include artifacts from Phil Coe, Ben Thompson, and The Civil War and Law enforcement.

The day of will include a living history display where the past comes to life, whether you’re into Lawmen, Lawbreakers, or Veteran.

The Brenham Heritage Museum was established over twenty years ago to protect and preserve the cultural heritage of Washington County, the birthplace of Texas. The Museum provides cultural stewardship for geographic areas once part of Washington County, and spans a collective history of 10,000 years.
