BRENHAM MAN ARRESTED FOR EVADING ARREST

  

A Brenham man has been charged with Evading Arrest in a Motor Vehicle.

According to police, 18-year old Devun Roberts Cooksey of Brenham turned himself in after a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Back on Friday morning at around 3:00 am, Washington County Communications advised that a reckless driver was heading into Brenham from Somerville on Highway 36.

Officer Sierra Newell located the vehicle and attempted to stop the driver.

According to police, Cooksey continued to flee and other officers joined in the chase.

Cooksey’s vehicle left the roadway in the 3900 block of FM 332 and went into a ditch and hay field.

Due to his injuries, Cooksey was transported by EMS to Scott and White Hospital.

A warrant was issued for his arrest and Cooksey turned himself in to police.
