BRENHAM MAN CHARGED WITH 2ND OFFENSE — DWI
A Brenham man faces second-offense DWI charges after his arrest over the weekend.
Brenham Police Cpl. Seth Klem say he was patrolling around Friday at midnight on Alois Lane when he saw a pickup truck traveling at a high rate of speed through a pasture.
Klem says the truck then turned onto Chappell Hill Street, continuing at a high rate of speed, crossing the divided line several times.
Klem says he got the vehicle to stop on Mangrum St.
The driver, 42-year old James Louis Kent of Brenham, reportedly told Klem that a deer had crossed the road which made him swerve.
Klem reports that Kent’s speech was slurred and he could smell a strong odor of alcohol.
Cpl. Steven Eilert conducted a field sobriety test, which Kent failed.
Dispatch notified the officers that Kent had a previous conviction for DWI.
He is charged with Second Offense – Driving While Intoxicated.
