BRENHAM MAN SENTENCED TO PRISON FOR DRUG CHARGE

A Brenham man has been sentenced to five years in prison after pleading guilty to drug possession charges.

40-year old Jason Rios of Brenham was arrested back in April, with a large amount of cocaine, during a traffic stop by Brenham Police.

Rios pleaded guilty to Possession of a Controlled Substance—a Second Degree Felony.  He was sentenced to five years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice-Institutional Division.

Also in 21st District Court this week:

Ashley Tackitt (Brazos Co. Jail)

27-year old Ashley Tackitt of Brenham had her probation revoked and was sentenced to six months in jail after pleading guilty to Burglary of a Building.

Tackitt was originally arrested on the burglary charge in July of 2014.  She was arrested earlier this year by Bryan Police on outstanding warrants from Washington and Grimes Counties.  Tackitt was also fined $1500.

38-year old Carlos Dewayne Smith of Huntsville was sentenced to eight years’ probation and fined $2000 for Possession of a Controlled Substance.

31-year old Marcus Joseph Fuentes of Houston received three years’ probation for Forgery of a Financial Instrument—a State Jail Felony.  Fuentes was also fined $1000 and ordered to perform 75 hours of Community Service.

And, 24-year old Bershard Alford Jr. of Houston, was placed on three years’ probation and fined $1500 for Possession of a Controlled Substance.  Alford was also ordered to spend six days in the Washington Co. Jail.
