Adam Schroeder was presented the EMT/Paramedic of the Year Award during the American Legion’s Midwinter Conference in Austin earlier this month.  The award honors EMTs and paramedics who show outstanding performance of their duties, either through an outstanding feat or a sustained record of excellence over a number of years.

Schroeder has been a firefighter/paramedic with the Bryan Fire Department since 2013, and currently works out of Fire Station #1, one of the busiest stations in the city.  He is trained in EMS, fire and rescue, and has been deployed throughout the community and region through the Bryan Fire Department, Texas Task Force 1, and Washington County.

Schroeder is also actively involved in various Bryan Fire Department committees, including the Live Fire Group, which provides departmental and shift fire training at the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX), and the Operations Committee, which provides research and recommendations on departmental operations.

Schroeder’s nomination form read that he “continually provides dedicated, outstanding service and leadership to all”.  It said he is a positive and self-motivated firefighter/paramedic who “always seeks out additional training opportunities in order to better himself, the department and those he serves”.
