BRENHAM SCHOOL BOARD LOOKS AT JR. HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPAL APPLICANTS

The Brenham School Board went into Executive Session at their noon meeting today (Monday) to discuss the candidates who have applied for the Junior High School Principal position.  Superintendent Dr. Tylor Chaplin said he did not expect any action to be taken on the matter however.   Brenham ISD had received 25 applications for the position, which was vacated following the sudden dismissal of previous principal Bryan Bryant in December.  Diana Werner, a retired principal from Bryan ISD, has been serving as interim principal this spring.

In other action, Brandi Hendrix, Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum & Instruction, received approval from the board for the district to adopt a High School Equivalency Program.  The program will allow those few students that are so far behind due to COVID or other reasons that they cannot receive a High School Diploma, to earn a certificate of completion.  The program will allow the students to stay enrolled in the district as they complete their studies.  They will not, however, be considered to be a graduate of Brenham High School.

The board also:

  • Reviewed plans to streamline the STEAM and CSI programs.
  • Heard plans for the 2021 after school and Summer School programs.
  • Approved a Joint Election Agreement between Washington County, the City of Brenham, and the Brenham Independent School District for the May 1st Board of Trustee Election.
  • Approved an out of state trip for the Marine Corps Junior ROTC students to travel to St. Louis, Missouri for the National Championship Drill Meet.
