  1. Choices have consequences – good or bad – negative or positive. Everyone of us have made choices somce good and some were not so good and we reaped the consequences of the not so good. This child made a bad choice and yes he should reap the consequences. Please don’t assume he has not been raised correctly or that he has not been taught right from wrong. How were you raised? Did you still make poor choices? Who do we blame for the ones YOU made?

  2. The number of law breaking young people will continue to rise as long as people continue to procreate for all the WRONG reasons. Like; accidentally, because we can, because we need someone to love us back, because others are, because grandparents expect, etc. The largest responsibility to take on is parenting. Requires the ultimate self sacrifices. The foster system will be even more overburdened due to elimination of pro choice, producing more unwanted, neglected, damaged children. The key is repeated continual, effective education from the time of comprehensive abilities thru age 18.

  3. This is a sad situation. Parenting has a lot to do with kids making these choices. As parents, we have a limited number of years to influence, guide, and teach our children. It is extremely hard work but if we make the sacrifice, it pays off. We have to know who our kids are hanging out with, what they are reading/listening to/watching, etc. If as a parent, you have done everything you can and your child still makes these kind of poor choices, then the blame lays completely on the child. I am praying for this kid and their family. America needs our prayers. God bless.

  4. There’s nothing wrong with people today in comparison to times past , people are born good and are all precious; however, society itself has become corrupted and confusing to children and parents alike. As for drugs, well there’s supposed to be a war against drugs taking place and as far as I’m concerned, it’s been limited to a fault. It needs to be taking place in areas outside the country as well as in our own boarders with extreme aggressiveness and full participation of all citizens. Even the children! And parents. This child and his parents are casualties of war and I grieve with them. Let’s resolve as a carring community to fight the good fight. Educate and be vigilant; however, when you identify a dope dealer, call Brenham P.D . And tell them. We are all in this war and we are each on one side or the other.

  5. “Please don’t take your gun to town!” …word in a popular song nearly 50 years old. Surely he, his friend and elders should have echoed these words in his ear.

    1. I’m sorry to say but a 16 yr. old kid with a gun and drugs! I DARE you to step in front of him at anytime of the day! No pun intended…
Treat this kid like an adult if he wants to act like one and please don’t start blaming everyone else or the parents! The kid chose to get in this situation so let the court system do their job and I wish the best for him.
