BRENHAM TRUSTEES TO DISCUSS BUDGET AND TAX RATE MONDAY

The Brenham school board will hold a public meeting on the proposed budget and tax rate on Monday.

Trustees will hear any public comments on the proposed district budget and tax rate, currently set at $1.125 per $100.  After public hearing, the board will look to adopt the budget for general operating purposes.  They will also adopt a resolution setting the tax rate for the new school year.

During consent agenda, board members will go over the Washington County Appraisal District budget, as well as its requests to retain and transfer funds for 2020 pictometry and a computer backup system.

Board members will also look to clarify a policy dealing with class ranking and academic achievement.  Student Services Director Steve Skrla says the policy deals with how valedictorians and salutatorians are determined, and which classes are counted for GPA purposes.

The board will also look at this year’s district and campus accountability report and ratings.  In addition, they will receive multiple updates on summer school, campus safety, construction and renovation, and the Watch D.O.G.S. program—a national family community engagement program.

The Brenham school board meets Monday evening at 5:30 p.m. at Brenham High School, rooms 111 and 113.
