BRENHAM-WASHINGTON CO. ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT RECEIVES AWARD FROM IEDC

Brenham-Washington County Economic Development has received an award from the International Economic Development Council (IEDC).

The IEDC awarded a Gold Rank to Brenham-Washington County Economic Development for its website, brenhamed.com.  The honor, awarded under the category of General Purpose Website, was presented at an awards ceremony during the IEDC Annual Conference.

The IEDC’s Excellence in Economic Development Awards recognize the world’s best economic development programs and partnerships, marketing materials, and the year’s most influential leaders.  Submissions in 35 award categories are judged by a panel of economic and community developers from around the world, following a nomination process.  The IEDC received over 500 submissions from four countries.

Brenham Economic Development Director Susan Cates said the primary goal of the website is to provide engaging information that encourages prospective businesses to locate to the region and existing businesses to stay.  She said its secondary goal is to be a ready resource of information about the community for all citizens, which became critical during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Cates said this award was a true team effort, recognizing the work done by Bella Media, EDSuite, and Caylee Rocka, economic development intern at the time of website development.
