BRYAN MAN SENTENCED FOR CAUSING FATAL CRASH

Juan Hernandez (Brazos Co jail)

A Bryan man has been sentence to 15 years prison for a deadly drunk driving accident last March in Brazos County.

25-year old Juan Hernandez pleaded guilty to Intoxication Manslaughter.  The maximum possible sentence for that charge is 20 years.

Prosecutors say Hernandez was going nearly 100 mph when his vehicle slammed into 23-year old Mayte Gaitan's vehicle as she was attempting to turn into a McDonald's parking lot on Highway 6 at Highway 21.

Police also say Hernandez attempted to flee the scene, but his vehicle broke down about a mile away from the site of the crash.

Hernandez had just completed his probation for a 2015 DWI charge in Robertson County.

  1. Last month in Bryan they sentence a man to 99 years in prison for assaulting a police officer. Killing a regular person only gets your 15 years. That don’t seem right.
