BUC MEN PICK UP ROAD WIN AT McLENNAN, 75-69

WACO, Texas — The Blinn College men’s basketball team (7-1) picked up a road win over McLennan Community College, 75-69, on Tuesday night.

“I am really proud of our guys for hanging in there, and bending, not breaking,” said Scott Schumacher, Blinn head coach. “They allowed us to help them bring their talent out to get a win.”

Cardell McGee and AJ Rainey each scored 18 points to lead Blinn’s offense. Tristan Ikpe followed with 15 and Nic Tata scored 13.

Blinn and McLennan played head-to-head in the first half until the Buccaneers pulled ahead to lead by seven points at the break, 37-30.

The Highlanders rallied back in the second half with a 24-11 run to take a 54-48 lead at the 8:49 mark. With less than nine minutes remaining, Blinn fought back for 27 points, while limiting McLennan to 15 points for the win. Rainey hit two three-pointers for the Buccaneers to take back the lead and Ikpe and Tata helped maintain it with crucial rebounds.

Next, the Blinn men’s basketball team will open conference play against Paris Junior College on Saturday, November 23, at 4 p.m. in the Kruse Center. The Blinn women’s basketball team will start the doubleheader at 2 p.m. against Collin County Community College.
