BUC WOMEN FALL AT SAN JAC

Even with an excess of 20 turnovers in the game, the Blinn College women’s basketball team kept it close with San Jacinto-North but still fell 84-79 Dec. 10 in Houston.

Blinn did grab an early lead at the beginning of the game but then San Jacinto took over and led throughout to grab the victory.

“We just gave up too many lay ups off of turnovers,” said Blinn head coach Jeff Jenkins. “I was proud of our fight because I thought we played bad but to still play them there and lose by just five points.”

Katelynn Johnson led Blinn with 22 points with the help of four made 3-pointers in the second half. Shakera Barnes had 18 points and Chant Lewis had 15 points while Nancy Warioba did a good job of cleaning up the rebounds.

The loss for the Buccaneers drops their conference record to 3-2 with an overall record of 9-5. Blinn will host LSU-Eunice on Dec. 16 at 5:30 p.m.
