Blinn women’s basketball claims win against McLennan, 95-83

WACO, Texas — The Blinn College women’s basketball team (11-3, 1-2) picked up a non-conference win against McLennan Community College, 95-83, on Monday night.

“It was a good road win after a long holiday break and our depth played a big key role in our victory tonight,” said Jeff Jenkins, Blinn head coach. “We played 12 players and all of them competed hard.”

Briauna Johnson led Blinn with a season-high 22 points, Kristine Ezimako scored 16, Gabriela Bosquez tallied 13, Hailey Atwood contributed 12, Mia Cherry recorded 11, and Keaundra Eddings came up with nine.

Blinn and McLennan went head-to-head to start the game, and the Buccaneers managed a slim 19-18 lead at the end of the opening quarter. The Highlassies evened the score 31-31 at the 4:49 mark in the second quarter, but Blinn broke away with an 18-5 run to lead 49-36 at the break.

Blinn added another 26 points to the board in the third quarter to stay on top 75-63. Both teams scored 20 points in the final quarter as Blinn claimed the 12-point win.

Next, the Buccaneers will face off against Collin County Community College on Thursday, January 2, at 5:30 p.m. on the road.
