BUC WOMENS SOCCER FALLS TO #10-NAVARRO, 1-0

Kaley Kaspar and Karson Funderburk lead Bucs with two shots each

CORSICANA, Texas — The Blinn College women’s soccer team (4-6, 2-5) opened the second half of conference play with an impressive effort in a 1-0 loss to No. 10 Navarro College on Tuesday.

“It was a huge performance against a very talented team and I am so impressed with how far our team has come in a very short amount of time,” said Michael McBride, Blinn head coach. “To keep the game scoreless for 82 minutes and create some chances against a team like Navarro is incredible. The performance was absolutely the best that we have had this season.”

Goalkeeper Hope Hillhouse made nine crucial saves and defenders Lindy Jenkins, Kajol Prasad, Olivia Porter and Jocelynn Lausell worked hard to keep the game scoreless for the majority of the game. The Bulldogs didn’t get on the board until the 82nd minute in a game that could have gone either way.

“The team gets better every game and we are starting to get into our groove,” said Alex Jackson, Blinn assistant coach. “The girls battled until the end with the 10th-ranked team in the nation and I could not be more proud of them.”

Blinn’s offense almost broke through, coming up with six shots. Kaley Kasper and Karson Funderburk led Blinn with two shots each, while Janay Wilson and Allison McCrady each recorded one shot.

Next, Blinn will return home to take on No. 2 Tyler Junior College on Friday, Oct. 4, at 5 p.m. at Rankin Field. The No. 18 Blinn College men’s soccer team will take the field against No. 4 Tyler at 7 p.m. to finish the doubleheader.
