Pedro Castro and Nic Tata record double-doubles

BOSSIER CITY, La. — The combination of AJ Rainey scoring a season-high 37 points, and Pedro Castro and Nic Tata each recording double-doubles, led the Blinn College men’s basketball team (12-3, 2-2) to an overtime victory over Bossier Parish Community College, 105-92, on Friday night.

“Anytime you can get a win on the road in this conference is big,” said Scott Schumacher, Blinn head coach. “For our players to fight back and win the game after Bossier Parish sent it into overtime is a tremendous credit to their character.”

Rainey led Blinn’s offense in points, Tata recorded 16 points and 11 rebounds, and Castro tallied 13 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Buccaneers to a conference win. Tristan Ikpe also contributed 14 points, while Markus Vallien scored 12.

Bossier Parish took off with a 38-32 lead at the half, and hit a three-pointer at the buzzer in the second half to even the score 82-82 and send the game into overtime. The Buccaneers were able to hold Bossier Parish to 10 points, while scoring 23 points in overtime for the win.

Next, Blinn will return home to take on Panola College in a conference game on Monday, January 6, at 7 p.m. in the Kruse Center.
