Kaspar’s two goals lead to Blinn’s shutout of Jacksonville, 3-0

BRENHAM, Texas — Kaley Kaspar scored two goals to help lead the Blinn College women’s soccer team (5-7, 3-6) to a 3-0 shutout over Jacksonville College on Sunday afternoon at Rankin Field.

“It was nice to get the shutout and it was a great bounce-back victory so I am pleased,” said Michael McBride, Blinn head coach.

Blinn totaled 12 shots on goal as Kaspar led the way with three for two goals. Karson Funderburk scored one goal and recorded one assist for the Buccaneers, while Carla Garcia and Kajol Prasad each came up with an assist.

Hope Hillhouse tallied eight saves in 90 minutes to record the shutout.

Blinn held a 1-0 lead at the half after Funderburk assisted Kaspar in scoring a goal in the 43rd minute. Returning from the half, Garcia quickly assisted Kaspar in Blinn’s next goal in the 45th minute. Blinn took a 3-0 lead when Prasad passed the ball to Funderburk to score in the 88th minute.

Next, Blinn will travel to face Northeast Texas Community College on Friday, Oct. 11, at 2 p.m.

No. 18 Blinn men’s soccer downs Jacksonville, 3-1

Farit Ha scores two goals for Blinn in the second half for the win

 

BRENHAM, Texas — Farit Ha scored two goals in the second half to help lead the No. 18 Blinn College men’s soccer team (8-3, 7-2) to a 3-1 win over Jacksonville College on Sunday afternoon.

“We knew it was going to be a difficult game because the team put so much into Friday’s game, but they found a way to get the win so we are happy,” said Michael McBride, Blinn head coach.

Josh Stone and Ha led Blinn’s offense, each recording four shots on goal and combining for all three goals. Ethan Unger was next with two shots on goal and two assists, and Brook Williams recorded an assist in the win.

JT McCoy was strong on defense, recording 11 saves in 90 minutes.

Blinn was the first on the board in the 10th minute when Unger passed the ball off to Stone to score. However, Jacksonville evened the score 1-1 in the 43rd minute for the game to remain tied at the half.

Blinn took back a 2-1 lead when Williams assisted Ha in scoring in the 46th minute. The Buccaneers extended their lead to 3-1 in the 61st minute when Ha scored on a pass from Unger.

Next, Blinn will compete against Northeast Texas Community College on the road on Friday, Oct. 11, at 4 p.m.
