GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Just days before beginning its quest for its first NJCAA World Series title, the Blinn College baseball team spent some time with children of the Grand Junction community Thursday.

The team partnered with Challenger Baseball, a program that gives children with special needs the opportunity to play baseball while learning valuable life lessons.

The Bucs split up into two groups and worked with nine children on each team, assisting them with skills such as pitching, fielding and batting.

“It’s an honor to work with these kids today,” said sophomore outfielder Nolan Brown.

Pitchers Robert Dickey and Tyler Day participated in the Junior College World Series’ 13th annual kids’ clinic offered free to local Little Leaguers. Approximately 110 young ballplayers participated as athletes from all 10 World Series teams provided the young players with pitching, fielding, throwing and hitting tips. The event was sponsored by the American Baseball Coaches Association.
