The Burleson County Judge is retiring.
Judge Mike Sutherland tells KBTX-TV in Bryan that he's retiring—but no date has been given.
Sutherland says he will be issuing a statement in coming days, addressing his retirement and any concerns over possible ethics questions.
Sutherland says that allegations have been made against him with the Texas Judicial Conduct Commission over the past several months.
He says he is cooperating with investigators, denying any claims and saying no findings have been made against him. He claims no grievances or complaints have been filed in his time as county judge. Sutherland has been the county judge since 2003.
Burleson County commissioners will hold a special meeting Monday morning to address the sudden resignation. The meeting is set to start at 9:00 a.m.
