BURTON OPENS UP FOOTBALL/VOLLEYBALL WORKOUTS

Coach Jason Hodde (Mark Whitehead)

The Burton Panthers have opened workouts for the 2020 football season, under some unusual guidelines.

The Panthers worked out Monday under Coronavirus precautions, including no contact, footballs or helmets while players had to maintain six feet between players.

The team will be able to sport helmets next Monday.

The Panthers return just four seniors from last year’s team that was 6-5 and earned a berth in the Bi-District Playoffs.

Burton will kick off the 2020 season on the road at Holland, Friday, Aug. 28; then travel to Runge on Sept. 4; the Panthers’ home opener is September 11th at home to 3A Brazos.

KWHI will have live coverage of Panthers football.

The Brenham Cubs will open workouts Monday, September 7th and open the season Friday, September 24th.

The Burton Lady Panther volleyball team has begun preparations for the 2020 season at the Burton High Gymnasium.

Coach Katie Kieke (Mark Whitehead)

Gone are a strong senior class that led the Lady Panthers to the State 2A Semifinals last season.  However they also return a youthful trio of All-District selections.

The Lady Panthers open the 2020 season against Iola and Bremond, Aug. 18th at Iola.

The District schedule opens Friday, September 11th at home to Snook.

The Brenham Cubettes will begin workouts, Monday September 7th and games will begin September 14th.
