BURTON SCHOOL BOARD TO DISCUSS PROPOSED BUDGET, TAX RATE

The budget and tax rate for the new fiscal year lead a lengthy agenda for Monday’s virtual meeting of the Burton School Board.

Members of the Burton School Board hold an in-person meeting in March. Monday's meeting will be held virtually.

The board will consider the proposed tax rate to be published and the proposed budget, along with a public meeting date to discuss the two.

Also at Monday’s meeting, trustees will consider office safety upgrades and staff incentive pay.  They will also consider revisions to the order for a school board election for the positions currently held by Ande Bostain, Felton Cox, and Misty Lucherk, along with election procedures and the appointment of election officials.  The election was postponed earlier this year from May 2nd to November 3rd.

Board members will also consider bids for a Ford 4000 tractor and 2001 school bus.  In addition, they will consider the employee and student handbooks, as well as changes to board policy concerning the honoring of graduates.

The board will also hear reports from the superintendent, principals, and athletic director.  It will also go over any hirings or resignations before meeting in executive session to discuss personnel and district safety and security.

The board will meet Monday evening at 6 p.m. via video and teleconference.  The public can access the meeting using the information available below.

Anyone looking to submit public comments for the meeting must email ekennedy@stu.burtonisd.net between 5:15 and 5:45 p.m. Monday evening to be included in the meeting.

  1. Nervous. Fearful. Worried. The fear is real. BUT this is what I do. I teach. I take care of people. I am dedicated.
    Prayers for all school personnel.
I pray the administrators will take what is “best for all” with “Corona in the classroom ”. Grateful for all teachers.
