BURTON SCHOOL BOARD TO MEET MONDAY FOR BUDGET, TAX RATE APPROVAL

The Burton School Board will meet this (Monday) afternoon to continue discussion on the budget and tax rate.

The board will consider final approval of a tax rate of $1.04 cents per $100 valuation.  It will also consider the 2019-20 budget and staff compensation plan.

At the board’s meeting last week, it agreed on the step raises presented for teachers, but held off on raises for other district staff, which did not account for staff experience as presented.

Also at tonight’s meeting, board members will consider implementing general employability skills during enrichment and flex periods for 9th and 10th grade students.

The board will also look at approving the 2019-20 Washington County Appraisal District budget.  In addition, it will consider action on surplus funds of the Appraisal District.  It will also hear reports from the elementary and high school principals, athletic director, and superintendent.

The board meets this afternoon at 5:30 p.m., in the Burton ISD Administration Office.
