BURTON SCHOOL BOARD TO REVIEW MASTER FACILITY SITE PLAN

The Burton School Board will meet this (Wednesday) afternoon to discuss school district facilities.

Members of the Burton School Board hold a meeting on January 11th. The meeting was broadcast via Zoom.

The board will review the district’s master facility site plan.  Trustees have put a greater emphasis on facility needs and upgrades at their last two meetings, with Superintendent Dr. Edna Kennedy saying in December that the district is “way behind on facilities.”

At the board’s meeting last week, trustees agreed to move $260,000 from the district’s operational fund balance to address projects.  Technology upgrades, the elementary school playground, the baseball and softball field lights, a full school marquee, vestibules, an extension of the elementary school awning, sealing rock on the rock building and installing a roof overhang, and bus repairs are among the planned uses for the funding.

The board will meet this afternoon at 4 p.m.  The virtual login and call-in information for the meeting is posted below.  Public comments must be emailed to ekennedy@stu.burtonisd.net between 3:15 and 3:45 p.m. this afternoon to be included in the meeting.
