BURTON SCHOOL BOARD TO WELCOME NEWLY ELECTED MEMBERS

  

The Burton school board will welcome one newly elected and two re-elected members during their meeting on Monday.

The Burton School Board will meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Administration Office- 701 North Railroad Street.

Newcomer Linda Majek Haten was elected to the board with 231 votes last Saturday. Hasten taught history for 12 years and was a counselor for over 11 years in the Texas Public School system.

Misty Goldberg Lucherk and Felton Cox were re-elected to the board, with 228 and 222 votes respectively.

As part on Monday’s agenda, the votes will be canvassed and oaths will be administered to the newly elected board members.

In other business, the school board will hear the principals’ reports. Superintendent Edna Kennedy will give her report, discussing Washington County Appraisal District’s preliminary values.

The board will also hold a workshop meeting at 5:30 p.m. to continue discussions on the master facility site plan. The master facility site plan is being looked at again after voters rejected the $18.5 million bond issue in November. The public is invited to attend the meeting.

The board will also:

  • Consider changes to supplemental salary schedule
  • Hold an executive session to discuss personnel
  • Consider hiring decisions and resignations
