CALDWELL ISD RECEIVES $1.2 MILLION IN FUNDING FOR TEACHER RAISES

As Caldwell ISD gets closer to breaking ground on new school buildings, the district is also getting help to hire and retain good teachers.

According to Caldwell ISD Superintendent Andrew Peters, the district is receiving $1.2 million in state funding to provide raises and higher starting salaries for teachers.

Peters said, while the new funding will certainly help, the district is being careful on how it is spent.  He said, since the state also lowered tax rates, he is unsure the district can receive that kind of money year after year.

Last November, voters in Caldwell approved a $40 million bond to upgrade current facilities and add new ones.  The district is planning to break ground in October for a new elementary school.  New buildings and upgrades are expected to be completed by early 2021.
