Former Blinn Buccaneer and 2015 MVP Quarterback Cam Newton has agreed to a one-year deal with the New England Patriots.
Newton has reportedly agreed to an incentive-laden deal worth a maximum of $7.5 million.
Newton, the 2015 NFL MVP and 2010 Heisman Trophy winner, was released by the Carolina Panthers back on March 24, and will join a Patriots quarterback room that currently includes Jarrett Stidham, Brian Hoyer and rookies Brian Lewerke and J'Mar Smith.
Newton missed 14 games last season with a Lisfranc injury and the final two games of the 2018 season with a shoulder injury that also required surgery.
Overall, he has passed for 29,041 yards with 182 touchdowns and 108 interceptions and has rushed for 4,806 yards and 58 touchdowns.
In 2009, Newton helped lead the Buccaneers to the NJCAA National Championship.
