CITY COUNCIL CONSIDERS PROHIBITING OPEN CARRY AT MEETINGS

The Brenham City Council will consider prohibiting open carry at all city meetings when they meet Thursday, January 7th.

City Manager, Terry Roberts says the prohibition of open carry would only apply to the room the meeting is being held in, not the whole building. Signs would also be put up for public notice.

The Council will determine its decision Thursday during its 1pm meeting.

Topics on the agenda include a second reading granting a specific use permit to allow a multi-family development on the site of two acres or more. The site is between Hosea Street and Bob Street, adjacent to the current Brenham housing authority properties. In conjunction with that ordinance, the council will vote to show support for changes in Brenham’s public housing that will work with the HuntJon LLC group. Also on the agenda are a one (1) year contract extension for Janitorial Services at various city facilities, and appointments to various city advisory boards.

  1. Get with the times people! The City Council must just now be crawling out from under a rock. They had a 7 months notice from the state of Texas that open carry started January 1st. of this year. What have these guys been doing all this time?
