CITY EXPECTS TO NAME WILLIAMS SUCCESSOR, AUGUST 2ND
Brenham’s City Manager says he expects a successor to be named for the late Weldon Williams by the first week of August.
City Manager James Fisher says the council will likely name a replacement for Williams, who died June 27th, at their meeting, Thursday, August 2nd.
Williams had been the Ward-2 City Councilman since his election in 2006.
Fisher says the appointment would fill the Ward-2 seat until next May’s election.
Ward Two, the city’s only “minority majority” ward, has had a African-American representative for several decades.
City Secretary Jeana Bellinger said there is no deadline to make an appointment.
