Kathy Shedd is stepping down as the head coach of the Burton Lady Panther softball team, effective immediately.

Burton Athletic Director Jason Hodde said that Shedd is leaving the position because, “it’s in the best interest for her and her family and Lady Panther Softball”

The Lady Panthers have struggled to a 1-8 record this year—a season they’ve faced without a number of players—including four starters—for various reasons.

Assistant Coach Lisa Czajkowski will take over as head coach and finish out the season.

Shedd was an All-State catcher for the Brenham Cubette softball team in the mid ‘90’s.

It was her home run that was the difference in the 1996 State Championship game…a 1-0 win over Waco Midway.  The winning pitcher was Jaimie Maurer, the current head coach at Brenham High School.

Coach Czajkowski’s debut as head coach of the Lady Panthers is next Tuesday at home to Snook.

That game gets underway at 5:00.
