COLLEGE STATION FLIGHT ATTENDANT RELEASED FROM ICE CUSTODY IN CONROE

A College Station flight attendant held by federal immigration agents for over a month has been released.

28-year-old Selene Saavedra Roman was released from an immigrant detention center in Conroe Friday evening.  The Texas A&M graduate had been in Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) custody since February 12th, after returning on a Mesa Airlines flight from Mexico.

Roman was mistakenly told by Mesa Airlines she could legally fly to Mexico and back.  However, upon her arrival at the George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, Customs and Border Protections agents detained her.

Federal agents placed her in the Conroe detention center, and asked government officials to revoke her Deferred Action for Child Arrivals (DACA) permit.

According to the Association of Flight Attendants, Roman came to the United States as an undocumented child from Peru at three years old.  She grew up in Texas, graduated from Texas A&M, attained legal status under the DACA program, and married a U.S. citizen.

In addition, Roman has already been granted her I-130 Petition from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, putting her on the path to lawful permanent residency.

  1. After being here all these years and attending Texas A&M and never got citizenship. I have no sorrow for her. Has lived the American Dream for 25 years and never applied. Too bad

    1. To some people it’s so easy to talk and judge… but let me tell you something, these kids were brought into the united states not knowing what their parents were doing, do you not understand that. Yes she might have been here for 25 years and never applied but do you know why? No!! you just assume, Right?. yes, of course, do you know that those people don’t have the opportunity to petition or even apply for status in the USA, Unless the have children over the age of 21 or if she married a US citizen. Stop Slamming these people down especially if you have no idea why.
