Police were called to a report shots fired at a home on Wildrye Drive around 3:20 p.m.

The man who lives there, whose name has not been released, told police he found a man identified as 23-year old Daniel Pinon of Navasota, in his garage.  A struggle ensued, during which the homeowner shot Pinon in the left leg.

Pinon fled the scene. Another 911 caller reported a man with a gun headed towards Rock Prairie Road. Pinon was arrested a couple of blocks from the shooting and transported to the hospital for treatment.

Police say Pinon stole a 2011 Dodge Avenger in Navasota Monday night, which he then drove to the home on Wildrye Drive.

Pinon is charged with Burglary of a Habitation and Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle.

  1. Good for this homeowner, if more people felt empowered to protect their home by exercising their right to bear arms and use them when appropriate, chances are our crime rate would drop drastically.
