COMMERCIAL KITCHEN INCUBATOR PLANNED FOR BRENHAM

A new type of business is planned to locate in Brenham.  Patrick and Deana Murray have purchased the former Grimm’s Radiator Shop building at 315 South Park Street and plan on remodeling it into a commercial kitchen incubator.  A commercial kitchen incubator is a fully licensed and inspected commercial kitchen that is rentable.  It could be used by a caterer to prepare for a large party, or an entrepreneur who needs to prepare a batch of their food product without have the expense of building a commercial kitchen.  The business, to be known as the Texas Cookery, received approval form the Board of Adjustments Monday for waivers from the required building setback and parking space requirements.  The building would not be a restaurant, but only a place to prepare food that would be consumed elsewhere.

This part of downtown Brenham has seen a flurry of real estate activity lately. Various people have purchased properties in the South Park, Church, and 1st Street area for development.  Brenham city staffers say they expect more requests for variances in this area because most of the building predate city zoning ordinances.
