COMMISSIONERS COULD SET PROPOSED TAX RATE, TUESDAY

Washington County commissioners are expected to set the proposed tax rate for the coming fiscal year, when they meet Tuesday morning.

Last year’s tax rate was 51.7-cents per hundred dollars valuation.  That rate could change for 2019-20, due to an average 8-percent increase in property values.

The commissioners will also set the dates for two public hearings on the proposed tax rate.

Commissioners could also approve the first amendment to the Economic Development agreement with B.K. Stringer Limited.  In January, the Brenham City Council approved a similar agreement for commercial and retail development at the intersection of Highway 290 East and Chappell Hill Street.

The commissioners’ court will also discuss an agreement with the Department of Motor Vehicles for automated vehicle registration and title system equipment.

Commissioners will also hear monthly reports from: EMS, 9-1-1 and ITT.

County Commissioners meet Tuesday morning at 9:00 at the Washington County Courthouse.
