COMMISSIONERS EXPECTED TO FINALIZE TAX RATE & BUDGET

A public hearing on the budget and final vote on the tax rate highlight the agenda for Tuesday morning’s Washington County Commissioners Court meeting.

The commissioners have held two public hearings on the proposed tax rate of 52.11-cents per $100 valuation.  That is an increase of 12.65-percent from the current rate of 46.26 cents.

The tax increase became necessary after the county acquired the responsibility for emergency communications from the City of Brenham in a service exchange.  That change takes affect October 1st.

The agenda also includes a discussion of a possible burn ban in the county—the agenda was set prior to rainfall from one-to-three inches this weekend in most areas of the county.

The commissioners are also expected to approve Brian Ruemke as the Assistant Emergency Management Coordinator.

Commissioners meet Tuesday morning at 9:00 at the Washington County Courthouse.
