COMMISSIONERS TO CONSIDER HIRING FIRM TO FILE FOR STATE FUNDS

The Washington County Commissioners will take the first step in hiring a outside firm to file for Hazard Mitigation Assistance funds during their meeting next Tuesday.  County Judge John Brieden says that the county simply cannot meet all of the requirements by the Texas Department of Emergency Management for processing the request applications.  The funds are made available from the state for projects that limit the damage caused by natural disasters such as flooding.  The commissioners will consider requesting proposals from firms to complete the process.

Also on Tuesday’s agenda, commissioners will discuss the removal of an abandoned home at 9020 Providence Street in Chappell Hill.  The home is in very poor condition with the roof caving in and the owner thus far has not repaired or torn it down.  Commissioners will discuss having the home torn down as a Public Nuisance and have lean placed on the property for the cleanup costs.

Washington County Commissioners meet Tuesday at 9:00 AM at the County Courthouse.
