COMMISSIONERS PAY TRIBUTE TO BRENHAM HONOR GUARD

The Washington County Commissioners announced a proclamation seeking to pay tribute to the volunteer members of the Brenham Honor Guard at their meeting on Tuesday.

The purpose of the guard is to provide military honors at funeral and memorial services for honorably discharged veterans of all branches.

The commissioners also approved the Sheriff’s Office to use funds from the Forfeiture of Assets Account.

They also approved an intern for the Justice of the Peace Precinct 2. She will be in the office from June 4 through August 4th. As always, there is no cost to the county for this intern.

Also approved was a Resolution confirming that the Brazos Valley Council of Governments is a Housing Authority pursuant to Chapter 392 of the Texas Local Government Code, in conjunction with the creation of the Brazos Valley Public Facility Corporation.

The commissioners approved the ability to advertise for Request for Proposals for Integrated Financial software/hardware. The software currently in use is 14 years old, and no update is available for the currently software. A financial decision will be made after the county goes through the budget.

Commissioners named a replacement to the current member of the Criminal Justice Advisory Committee. Captain Trey Gulley will replace former Police Chief Rex Phelps in that position.

The commissioners also heard a presentation of the Washington County 911, as well as monthly reports from county offices.
