COMMUNITY CORNER TO FEATURE BURTON COTTON GIN FESTIVAL

  

This Tuesday’s edition of KWHI’s Community Corner will highlight the Burton Cotton Gin Festival, happening this weekend.

Stephanie Jarvis, Museum Director at the Texas Cotton Gin Museum, will speak with Craig Montana about the festival.

The festival takes place at site of the oldest operating cotton gin in America in historic downtown Burton.

On Saturday, the day begins with the Main Street Parade at 10 a.m. Family activities and contests take place throughout the day including a bubble gum blowing contest, pie eating contest, and cotton seed pulling contest. There will be food and craft booths, a children's barnyard, and an antique tractor show and pull.

There will also be tours of the historic 1914 Burton Farmers Gin, tours Wehring Shoe Shop and Cotton Warehouse, folk life demonstrations, and antique engine exhibits.
