COMMUNITY MOURNS DEATH OF DR. WILFRED DIETRICH

A longtime educator and prominent community service figure in Washington County has died.

Dr. Wilfred Dietrich

Dr. Wilfred Dietrich died Saturday morning.  He was 95 years old.

An English professor at Blinn College for over 50 years, friends and family knew Dietrich as an active supporter of the local Lions clubs.

Washington County Ladies Lions Club members called Dietrich “an avid supporter of Lionsism, history and community”, and said he was “an important part of making history in the county”.

Past International Lions Director Joe Al Picone said Dietrich helped many people throughout his life, and was “always giving and caring”.

Dietrich joins his wife of over 40 years, Bobbie, who passed away in December of 2009 at the age of 82.

A visitation will be held Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Brenham Memorial Chapel.  A memorial service will be held Friday morning at 11 a.m. at the Dr. Bobbie Morrow Dietrich Memorial Amphitheatre at Hohlt Park.

A celebration of life reception will follow the memorial service at the Student Center.  A private committal service will be held at Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham.
