CONROE FIRE CLAIMS WOMAN, TWO GRANDCHILDREN
A woman and her two grandchildren are dead following an early morning house fire in Montgomery County.
Investigators were called to a home on Long Valley Court in Conroe around 2:30 this (Saturday) morning.
Authorities say when crews arrived, the home was fully engulfed in flames and was filled with heavy smoke. Seven people were trapped inside the home -- a mother, father and their four children, as well as their grandmother.
A one-year-old child was removed from the home, taken to Texas Children's Hospital in The Woodlands but later died. A seven-year-old was also pulled from the home, but was pronounced dead at the scene. Their grandmother was taken to an area hospital where she later died.
Two children, ages five and eight, were able to escape the fire with the help of neighbors.
The mother, father and surviving children were taken to area hospitals in serious condition.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
