CONSCIENTIOUS DRIVING ON SAFE HOLIDAY WEEKEND

Texas Department of Public Safety troopers are crediting conscientious drivers for the continued safe driving on the area highways.

Reports from the Pierce and Bryan offices of the DPS are still reporting a safe holiday driving season in Washington and all the surrounding counties.  The DPS however, did not step up its enforcement of all the traffic laws during this particular holiday.

Normally, the DPS holds the Combined Accident Reduction Effort, or C.A.R.E., which puts every available law enforcement officer out on the highways of the state with no tolerance for speeding, seat belt violators and drinking and driving.  This is not the case for this Thanksgiving period, yet there have been no auto fatalities nearby, and there are very few calls, as well,

C.A.R.E. will be in effect for the Christmas and New Year driving periods.
