COOKIN FER CCA MEMORIAL COOK-OFF THIS WEEKEND IN GIDDINGS
This weekend, Combined Community Action (CCA) is holding a cook-off in Giddings, to help feed the elderly.
The 15th Annual Cookin’ fer CCA Judy Hielscher Memorial Cook-off and Fundraiser is taking place throughout today (Friday) and tomorrow (Saturday), at the Fireman’s Park in Giddings.
CCA Financial Services Coordinator Karen Walpole says the cook-off goes to support the Meals on Wheels program for seniors.
The IBCA sanctioned cook-off offers over $5,000 in prizes, including $750 to the first place winner.
Entries for the barbecue cook-off are $175, with contests for brisket, pork spare ribs, and chicken. There are also competitions being held for salsa, beans, desserts, and margaritas.
